I’m originally from Munich. The years of my undergrad at TU Munich happened to be a very eventful time for quantum matter (topological insulators, skyrmions) - it was a privilege to start out on a campus with its own neutron source. After this first taste of neutrons, I did my DPhil at the Clarendon Laboratory of the University of Oxford and a postdoc at Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico. Over those years, I got to work on a whole range of topics, which often required learning new scattering tools like resonant X-rays. Since 2019, I have integrated my research in the quantum matter community in Dresden.

Hi, I did my master degree in physics in St Petersburg University in Russia, where I learned the principles of neutron and x-ray scattering techniques. I then joined the IMPRS program hosted by the Max Planck Institute CPfS and TU in Dresden. During my Ph.D. studies, I performed many neutron scattering experiments at large-scale facilities to learn something new about complex magnetic materials. Now, as a postdoc at TUD, I combine advanced x-ray scattering methods with neutron scattering to discover new properties of topological magnets.

Hello, I came from Brazil and am the group’s Dr. rer. nat. student. During my bachelor’s at UFPR I first learned about x-ray scattering while studying nanocrystals using SAXS and Powder Diffraction. On my master’s at UNICAMP I was also part of the EMA beamline at Sirius, where for my project we’ve developed and commissioned a uniaxial strain setup for various SC-XRD techniques. With it we intended to be able to control and analyse symmetries of materials with non-trivial topology, which also served me as an introduction to quantum materials. For my doctorate studies I hope to consolidate my knowledge on x-ray scattering and quantum materials.

Hi, I’m a first year M.Sc. physics student at TU Dresden. Priorly, I finished my bachelor’s studies with a thesis project under supervision of Marein. This was my introduction to research on complex magnetic materials with x-ray scattering as the method of choice and it furthermore sparked my interest in this field.

For now, I’m specialising in condensed matter physics in my master’s studies, while looking forward to my visiting year at the Brazilian synchrotron (Sirius) in São Paulo.
